Conditions of Employment

Conditions of Employment

Employment conditions are in accordance with the Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union Supported Employment (Business Enterprises) Award 1993. A copy of this Award is available at each worksite.

HOURS
Each worksite has standard hours of work. Some people work part time and other people work full time. The hours of work at St George Special Industries, Rockdale Community Nursery and School Canteens are flexible and may vary according to the Supported Employee’s individual requirements.

WAGES
Upon commencement of employment, all Supported Employees sign an agreement to receive a rate of pay for the job they do. Wages are paid fortnightly, directly into Supported Employee’s bank accounts and the full details of hours worked, rates of pay and deductions are outlined in the Supported Employee’s pay slip. Wages are reviewed at the annual Individual Employment Plan Meeting.

SUPERANNUATION
IDF OF St George pays 10% of Supported Employees wages to an approved Superannuation Fund.

SICK LEAVE
All Supported Employees are eligible for 10 days paid sick leave per year, if working in standard full time employment. For those working other than the standard hours, sick leave is calculated on a pro-rata basis.

ANNUAL LEAVE
Employees are eligible for 4 weeks paid annual leave if working in standard full time employment and includes a 17.5% holiday leave loading. Leave for employees working other than the standard hours, is calculated on a pro-rata basis.

LONG SERVICE LEAVE
Employees are eligible for two months paid Long Service Leave after 10 years of service.
Leave application forms are available from your work site or from the Administration Office at Arncliffe.

ROSTERED DAYS OFF
Some work sites allow Supported Employee’s to participate in a rostered day off arrangement. However such arrangements vary depending on the individual work site.

MEAL & TEA BREAK
All Supported Employees are allowed one ½ hour unpaid lunch break, no later than 5 hours after they start work.
All Supported Employees receive one paid tea break of 15 minutes in the morning.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
All public holidays, both Commonwealth Government and the State Government of NSW are observed. Permanent full time or part time Supported Employees are entitled to public holidays without loss of pay.

TRANSFERS
Transfers within SGSI, Rockdale Community Nursery and School Canteens may be part of the Individual Employment Planning Process or may occur in response to changes in circumstance, depending on suitable vacancies being available.

AMENITIES
Each site has a dining area. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar are supplied free. Supported Employees have the use of a microwave, hot water dispenser and fridge. Some sites have vending machines for drinks and/or snacks etc.

LOCKERS
Each Supported Employee is provided with a locker and key.
